Citadella Galileiana: the Heart of Science in Pisa
Located in the historic center of Pisa, just a short walk from the Arno River and the ancient city walls, the Galilean Citadel is a vibrant hub devoted to science, innovation, and public engagement.
Named after Galileo Galilei, the most renowned of Pisan scientists, it stands today as a crossroads where research, education, and communication come together in an open dialogue with the city and its people.
At its core lies the Ludoteca Scientifica, an interactive space designed to bring visitors of all ages closer to the principles of physics, chemistry, and biology through hands-on experiments and educational exhibits.
Beyond this, the Citadel hosts events, exhibitions, workshops, and international conferences, making it a dynamic center for the scientific community and a landmark of contemporary Pisa.
Its carefully restored buildings, blending historical architecture with modern design, embody the Galilean spirit of curiosity, experimentation, and shared knowledge.
In this setting, the Galilean Citadel is more than just a venue — it is a symbol of how science continues to inspire dialogue, innovation, and collaboration on a global scale.
